The Dolly Crazy Tag!

I was tagged by Hailey at Hailey's Joyful Dolls. Thank you so much for the tag, Hailey. It took me a while to answer it, but it was fun.

The Logo:

The rules:

- Use the tag photo above.

- Answer all the questions truthfully.

-Tag 1-5 people.

- Link the creator/author, Viola Smiles

- Have Fun!

What was your most embarrassing memory of your dolls?

I can't think of any. That is not to say that it hasn't happened...but I can't remember any particular time. I suppose I don't get embarrassed easily. I've had people walk past and glance at me when I am taking photos of my dolls outside, but I don't find that embarrassing.

What do enjoy about your dolls/doll?

I like telling stories with them and taking photos with them. I like the unique features some dolls have: Carpatina dolls have detailed historical clothes, and Monster High dolls have cat ears or snake-hair. I also love the fact that dolls are something you can hug when you're upset and they don't judge you for it.

What is your favorite memory of your dolls?

I remember looking at an old American Girl Doll catalogue for Sarah (the only catalogue I had, which was released at the time Felicity was retiring. At the time I had asked for Sarah, Felicity was already retired...so it was pretty outdated). And then I remember finding her and asking for her as a gift.

Sarah was my first American Girl doll.

Is there ever a time when you don’t like your dolls?

No, I haven't had that happen. I've had times where I worried I may dislike or give up interest in my dolls. But that never happened.

Do you have a favorite picture of your dolls?

I'm going to cheat and answer with a few photos, since I don't have one favorite.

This is one of my favorite photos of this doll of Legolas. (It originally came from this post.) I like it for many reasons: one is that I got this doll as a gift since I'm a fan of Lord of the Rings. (The obsession did not go away and instead morphed into me writing a novel about elves.) I also like it because at one point, a child of a friend of mine looked at it and said, "That's a real person."

I like this photo also. It came from this photo shoot that I did for Halloween. I like the atmosphere of it. I had been playing around with camera filters at the time.

And I also like this one. It was from this spring photo shoot. I like the angle that I took in this photo, and the portrait view it has.

Has there ever been a time when you kinda forgot about your dolls?

There have been times when I forgot about my dolls briefly (but not purposefully, more that things were going on in my life). In 2020, I had so much happening that doll blogging seemed hard to do, so I only blogged seven times that year and inconsistently.

When blogging about your dolls do you ever feel uninspired/out of ideas for the next post?

Yes, I have felt uninspired, several times. But I usually find inspiration by taking my dolls out for a photo shoot, doing a tag post, or something else along those lines.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any active doll bloggers to tag who haven't already done this. So, if you want to do this tag feel free to do it. I'll be looking forward to seeing your answers. 😉

The questions:
What was your most embarrassing memory of your dolls?
What do enjoy about your dolls/doll?
What is your favorite memory of your dolls?
Is there ever a time when you don’t like your dolls?
Do you have a favorite picture of your dolls?
Has there ever been a time when you kinda forgot bout your dolls?
When blogging about your dolls do you ever feel uninspired/out of ideas for the next post?

Colors of the Season - Thanksgiving Tag!

                                                                  Hello everyone,

I was tagged by the creator of the tag, Hailey at Hailey's Joyful Dolls. Thank you so much Hailey, I'm excited to answer the tag. 😁

                                                                          🍁 Rules 🍁

- Answer ALL the questions truthfully!

- Use the Tag photo above in your blog post

- Credit the creator in your blog post <3

- Tag 1-10 blogger friends! (not required to have followed each other)

- And lastly! Comment (or include in your post) your favorite MixiePixie7 holiday (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc.) video! <3

To follow one of the rules of the tag, my favorite MixiePixie7 holiday video is this Halloween one. A warning to younger viewers: it is scary, so if you don't like scary stuff don't watch it.

Now on to the tag:

                  1. What's Your Favorite Part of Thanksgiving?

The autumn themes to it. On the other hand Halloween also has that, and prefer Halloween. But I like the less spooky autumn decorations that are put up. I also enjoy cooking the food. For one Thanksgiving my family made food from Felicity's cook book and that was fun.

                   2. What's Your Favorite Thanksgiving Food?

(Image from Pixabay).

Pecan Pie. I just really like the flavor.

                 3. What's Your Favorite Fall Themed Blog Post You've Made, This Year?

This one. I made it right after the autumn equinox.

                       4. Favorite Thanksgiving Themed Episode or Movie?

(Image from Wordgirl Wiki, https://wordgirl.fandom.com/wiki/Guess_Who%27s_Coming_To_Thanksgiving_Dinner?file=Guess_Who%2527s_Coming_to_Thanksgiving_Dinner_titlecard.jpg)

I don't know of that many Thanksgiving episodes or movies...
But out of the ones I remember watching when I was younger, the WordGirl episode,
"Guess Who's Coming For Thanksgiving Dinner" has to be my favorite.

  5. When Having Dinner, Are You The Extrovert (the one who talks non stop) or The Introvert (the one who doesn't say a word)?

It depends on the situation. I'm usually extroverted, since I do enjoy talking a whole lot. So I'd say I'm that.

        6. Least Favorite Part About Thanksgiving?

I usually prefer holidays where there is a bit more going on, so the fact that the only thing that really happens is having dinner (though slightly different from a normal dinner) kind of bothers me.

7.  On Thanksgiving, Do You Dress Fancy, Simple (but nice), or just What You Wear Everyday?

If someone is coming to visit, then I wear something fancy. But if it is just me and my family, I dress as I usually do.

8. Favorite Thanksgiving Themed GIF?

(gif from Tenor).

This one: it is so cute.

9. Least Favorite and Favorite Pie?

Pecan Pie is my favorite. My least favorite has to be Cranberry.

10. Which of Your Dolls Loves Thanksgiving the Most?

Kirsten: she enjoys baking and cooking, so of course Thanksgiving is her favorite holiday.

I tag:
Queen Elsa at A Doll's Life For Me
And anyone who wants to do it.

The Questions (for copy and pasting purposes):
                  1. What's Your Favorite Part of Thanksgiving?
                   2. What's Your Favorite Thanksgiving Food?

                       4. Favorite Thanksgiving Themed Episode or Movie?
  5. When Having Dinner, Are You The Extrovert (the one who talks non stop) or The Introvert (the one who doesn't say a word)?
        6. Least Favorite Part About Thanksgiving?
7.  On Thanksgiving, Do You Dress Fancy, Simple (but nice), or just What You Wear Everyday?

The Sibling Tag

I was tagged by-- er I mean, Molly and Emily were tagged by Tenney and Aria at The Bookworm Blog. And Felicity and Marie Grace were tagged by Caroline and Josefina at Hailey's Joyful Dolls

Molly and Emily: Thank you so much, Tenney and Aria!

Felicity and Marie-Grace: Thank you, Caroline and Josefina!

                                                                    The logo:

The Rules-

-Thank the person who nominated you.

-Link back to original post/award creator.

-Include the original graphic or make your own.

-Include a clean copy of the rules and questions in your post.

-Answer the questions.

-Tag 3 people or leave the tag open (make sure to let your nominees know).

-Pass on the old questions. (Each pair of nominees can add one favorite item category to the last question.)

Onto the actual tag--

Molly and Emily Answer the Questions:

Molly: Uh, is it time to tell everyone that we're not actually siblings?

Emily: I mean we're not biologically related. We like being around each other-- and we like Anne of Green Gables have called each other "kindred spirits" and what not. We're close...but not siblings...though sometimes we have wished that we were.

Molly: Right, so we can we change the title of the tag to be The Want-To-Be-Siblings tag? No? Anyway, let's move onto the questions...

What do you enjoy doing with each other?

Emily: Me and Molly like playing pretend--

Molly: Though we disagree on what to play pretend as sometimes. I always want to play Hogwarts, and be a wizard. But Emily, uhh--

Emily: I would like to play Lord of the Rings or Narnia. I understand that they are all Fantasy stories-- but Lord of the Rings has much better world-building than Harry Potter

Molly: *giggling* Hey! Well at least in Harry Potter, you don't need to be an old wizard in order to do magic, and can learn it by going to school!

Emily: *giggles* fine-- I guess you're right. But next time we play Harry Potter, I want to be...Newt Scamander.

Molly: ...He's from Fantastic Beasts...

Emily: I know, but I find the world-building in Fantastic Beasts to be ten times better than Harry Potter. Also the beasts! They're so cute! And I love all the details that are provided about them...

Molly: ...Okay. Um, I should add-- Emily wants to be a published Fantasy author so she can be really judgy about world-building sometimes...

Emily: I'm building my own world, so it helps to be critical of other Fantasy worlds, alright?

What is one thing you like and one thing you dislike about the other?

Molly: I like how creative Emily is. She is always coming up with new ideas. However, I dislike how judgy she can be about stories, sometimes.

Emily: I have to analyze them if I want to be a writer, Molly. What I like most about you, is how rebellious you can be. You will break rules sometimes-- other people don't like that but I admire that part of you. The only thing I dislike, and dislike not in a bad way, is how obsessive you can be about stuff.

What is one thing one of you likes but the other doesn’t?

Molly: Emily loves High Fantasy stories. I prefer Low and Urban Fantasy stories. I just like the idea of magic appearing in the real world.

Emily: But I prefer High Fantasy, because if you're telling a Fantasy story you may as well make a whole new world for it. Molly, of course, likes going on long hikes but I do not at all.

Describe the other in 5 or less words.

Molly: For Emily: whimsical, creative, British--

Emily: British? That would be like if I described you as American.

Molly: I wasn't done-- artistic, and thoughtful.

Emily: Alright, I like everything else...But British? *laughs* That's just my nationality-- not something that defines my entire personality.

Anyway, for Molly: rebellious, feisty, caring, sweet, and independent.

Molly: Oh I liked that.

Emily: And I forgot to add American.

Molly: You're not over the British thing are you?

Emily: Nope.

What are the other’s favorite…

                                             Food/drink?

Molly: I like anything but turnips-- it can be anything, just not turnips.

Emily: Alright? So you don't have a favorite food then.

Molly: Nah, I just can't think of any food besides turnips right now, but I do have a favorite food...just can't remember it.

Emily: Well, I like french toast and blueberry tea.

                                                  Sport?

Emily: Archery, of course. I want to be an elf, and the elves do archery in Lord of the Rings so of course...archery.

Molly: That's hard, maybe hiking? Is that a sport? Or running? Something like that.

                                                    Book?

Molly: Hmm...We've been discussing Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings a lot, and I am sure the readers know that we love those books. So let's answer with different books.

Emily: Good idea. Though I am normally against Low Fantasy, (like really against it), I love The Secret of Platform 13

Molly: That's a good one. I love Ella Enchanted and Princess Academy: Palace of Stone. They are both very fairy tale-like Fantasy stories.

Molly and Emily: And we're going to add one more question on...

                                             Bonus: Song?

Emily: I have several favorite songs, but I am going to answer this with different songs than the ones that are on my profile. I am going to say "Come and Be Welcome" by Heather Dale because it reminds me of the world I am building:

I also really like this cover of "Into the West" from Lord of the Rings:
*Getting emotional* I listen to this when I am write emotional scenes.

Molly: Wow, it's going to be hard for me to top the epic-ness of those songs.
But I like listening to "When Will My Life Begin" from Tangled and the Harry Potter soundtrack:

Felicity and Marie-Grace Answer the Questions:

Felicity: Now it's our turn to answer questions!

Marie-Grace: Yes, that's very exciting.

What do you enjoy doing with each other?

Felicity: I like teaching Marie-Grace how to horseback ride.

Marie-Grace: And I like teaching Felicity how to sing.

Felicity: Basically, we like teaching each other stuff.

What is one thing you like and one thing you dislike about the other?

Marie-Grace: I like how excited Felicity is about learning new things and stuff like that. And, I mean this in no harsh way, but I dislike how you constantly are disappearing and then reappearing all the time...

(Marie-Grace singing)

Felicity: *nervous* Oh that, um-- I just tend to be very busy with...stuff. *Is trying not to reveal that she is a time-traveler* I really like how creative you are, and I love your voice. The only thing that annoys me is when I am trying to sleep and you wake me up at 3:00 o'clock in the morning with your singing.

What is one thing one of you likes but the other doesn’t?

Felicity: Marie-Grace loves opera, but I am not a huge fan of it. I don't really have the time to sit down to listen to an eight hour show--

Marie-Grace: Operas are usually about five hours not eight hours. Just a correction. Felicity has this fascination with the 18th century-- she is really obsessed with it. And while I love history, I am not a huge fan of the 18th century.

Felicity: *nods* Yes...that. *aside to the readers only* that totally has nothing to do with me being a time traveler from the 18th century.

Marie-Grace: What did you say?

Felicity: Nothing...

Describe the other in 5 or less words.

Marie-Grace:
Felicity is impulsive, cheerful, a trickster, and a good friend. 1..2..*counts* that was five words.

Felicity: Thank you...Marie-Grace is wise, thoughtful, artistic, nice, and sweet. That's all. You're a really good friend and adoptive sister.

What are the other’s favorite…

 Food/drink?

Felicity:
Pumpkin Soup, it's just so delicious.

Marie-Grace: I like King Cake.

                                                  Sport?

Felicity: HORSE BACK RIDING!

Marie-Grace: You don't have to shout!

Felicity: Sorry, just got excited.

Marie-Grace: I don't have a favorite sport, I don't like sports.

                                                    Book?

Felicity: I like The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Treasure Island, and a lot of other books. I like the use of horses in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and I like that both of them are set in the 18th century-- at different points in it though.

Marie-Grace: I like The Phantom of the Opera, because it is a story set in an opera.

Marie-Grace and Felicity: And we're also going to add one more question on...

                                             Bonus: Movie?

Marie-Grace: I like The Phantom of the Opera: the 2004 movie adaptation. I also like the broadway musical-- but that's not a movie,

Felicity: I like Pirates of the Caribbean. I relate a lot to Elizabeth and Will Turner.

  We tag:

Mustache Crown Award (Part two): The Hairstyle Tutorial

Here's the second part of the Mustache Crown award, which is the hairstyle tutorial.

Also, as a reminder, you can still vote for your favorite caption here

But let's get started:

Firstly, you need a doll with long hair. I am using Julie for this, because her hair is very long. But any 18 inch doll with the hair the length of Julie's would work too.

And you also need a pony-tail holder of some kind.

For Julie, one side of her hair is already braided, but if your doll's hair isn't braided on both sides braid it.

Next, put the two braids together and then begin wrapping them as you would a normal braid (but instead with only the two braids of hair). Tie them off at the end with a pony tail holder.

Now that you're done, here is what the hairstyle looks like from the front and the side:

The AG History Quiz Tag! + The Mustache Crown Award

I decided it would be fun to do a double tag post.

For the first tag: I was nominated by Hailey at Hailey's Joyful Dolls, thank you so much Hailey!

                                                               The logo:

The Rules:

- Answer the questions given

- Come up with your own cool AG history themed questions for the people that you nominate!

- Tag 1-10 people

- Link back to the creator (me)

- Comment on the blogger's blog that you nominated to remind them that they were nominated!

- Ask 3-10 questions

What is the name of Molly's best friend?

                                       Emily Bennett.

When did American Girl first start?
I don't know the exact date, but I know they started in the 80s.

What is the name of this AG doll?

(Image from Wiki fandom, https://americangirl.fandom.com/wiki/Lindsey_Bergman)

                                       Her first name is Lindsey.

What company first started American Girl?
                                  Pleasant Company.

                                      My questions:
     1. Who was the girl of the year of the year 2009?
     2. Which AG doll is a stop motion animator?
      3. Who were the three original American Girl Dolls?
      4. When was Kaya released?
      5. What year was Samantha re-released?
      6. When did the historical line name get changed to Beforever?

                                     I tag:
                       BeyondNaturesMeadow
                                  Brooklyn
                   Blueberry With T-Rex Arms

For the second tag: I wasn't exactly nominated, but since Loren at Happy House of AG nominated anyone who had Saige I decided to do it. (Because I have Saige). The creator of the award is Annecy from Dreams for American Dolls
The logo:
Rules:

  • Whoever you nominate must post a hairstyle tutorial on their blog
  • You must ask at least 5 questions
  • You must keep the chain going, and if you are nominated, nominate someone else
I will post a hair style for dolls as the next thing I post.

                                                       Favorite TV show?

That's so hard to pick one. I'm going to go with: Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager as two of my favorite shows.

                                                       Favorite hairstyle?

I really like Tauriel and Legolas's hair styles from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit

(Images from LOTR Wiki, https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Legolas?file=Legolas_portrait_-_EmpireMag.jpg,  https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Tauriel?file=Tauriel_portrait_-_EmpireMag.jpg)

I think the way braids in those hairstyles are used is pretty cool.

If American Girl made a homeschooled GOTY, would you buy her?

It depends on what type of homeschooler the doll is, as there are many types of homeschoolers in existence. AG would have be clear about what type of homeschooler the doll was and portray the type of homeschooler well. Also, how important to the character would being a homeschooler be?

It just depends on how they do it. American Girl had a doll, Blaire, that was a blogger but they didn't really make her blog relatable to those who are actually bloggers. Her blog was way too professional. But then also had a doll, Z, that was a YouTuber and made AGSMs, and they got that right. So it solely depends on how it is done.

What’s your favorite sleepover activity?

I've never actually been to a sleepover and probably won't anytime soon (due to the pandemic). But I think my favorite would probably be watching scary movies?

Have you ever been to an American Girl store?

Yes, several times.

My questions:
1. What is your favorite classic novel? And why?
2. What is your favorite American Girl Doll movie?
3. If you could switch places with any AG character who would you switch places with?
4. What is your favorite time period?
5. Which of Felicity's outfits would you like to own in your size?

I nominate...

Give Thanks! (Thanksgiving Tag)

Happy (late) Thanksgiving!

I was tagged by Hailey at Hailey's Joyful Dolls. Thank you so much, Hailey. 😁

Even though I do normally make posts on holidays, I decided I would do this one a little after. I wanted to use the tag to reflect on Thanksgiving, rather than posting it directly on the day.

The logo:

The rules:

1. Answer the questions truthfully :)

2. Tag 1-10 friends

3. Comment Give Thanks! or Be Thankful :) or you can feature it in your blog post

4. Tag the creator

5. Use the Give Thanks! - Thanksgiving Tag photo (the photo I used above) if you want to :)

What is your favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving?

I usually like seeing friends and family during that time. It is nice to see family members you have not seen in a long time.

Do you dress your dolls up for Thanksgiving?

I like to, but I also like to take photos of my dolls outside when the leaves have just fallen.

What do you eat on Thanksgiving?

Here's a list of some of the foods I like (for Thanksgiving):

* Cranberry relish.

* Pie, different types of pies (Cranberry, Pumpkin, etc.)

* Pumpkin Bread.

* Turkey.

What are you thankful for this year?

In no particular order:

* My Family (including our dogs, who are part of the family).

* My Dolls

* My blogs

* Yoga and Tai Chi

* My teachers

* The Theatre

* Animation and art

* The fact that Zoom exists (the world would be so quiet otherwise).

* My friends.

Did you or do you plan on taking a family photo with your dolls?

I plan to, it seems like fun.  I haven't done it in a long time, so I think it would be fun to do again.

Did you enjoy this tag?

Yes I did. It was really fun and I enjoyed answering the questions.

I tag:

Queen Elsa

Grace

Madison

Annabelle

And anyone who wants to do it. (Given that I am a little late to doing this, feel free to do the tag next Thanksgiving if you want).

The questions (for copy and pasting purposes):

What is your favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving?

Do you dress your dolls up for Thanksgiving?

What do you eat on Thanksgiving?

What are you thankful for this year?

The Mystery Blogger Award

I was nominated by McKayla at Tales of a Triple Threat. Thank you so much, McKayla. 😀

Though the tag was originally meant for my creative arts blog, I felt that it fit my doll blog better. (The reason is, one of the questions related to stop motion animation, which is something I usually do with my dolls).

Also, if you got a random post in your feed that was deleted soon after, that was because I was claiming my blog on Bloglovin . I am so sorry for the inconvenience. BlogLovin' made it so I had to make a post on this blog with the code in order to claim it, and not simply paste the code anywhere else like a page. So, sorry about that.

Anyway, on to the award:

                                                                  The logo:

The rules:

1) Display the award logo on your blog.

2) Mention Okoto Enigma, the creator of the award.

3) Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

4) Answer 5 questions from the blogger who nominated you.

5) Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.

6) Share the link to your best post.

7) Nominate 10 – 20 bloggers and notify them that they are nominated.

8) Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice, including 1 weird or funny question.

9) Continue the chain!!

Three (doll related) facts about me:

1. My first AG doll was Sarah (who is a Just Like You #39).

2. I started doing doll customizations in 2016, though before that I had made Greek Goddess dolls (which I didn't customize but made the chitons and togas for).

3. I really wish movie companies could make more dolls of their characters, given that a lot of the movies I tend to like only make action figures of their characters.

My Best post(s):

I don't have one specific post that I'd say I like more than others,

so here are some posts I had a lot of fun making:

Red Coats on the Horizon (part 1): It Started With a Song

The White Lady (a lyrical photoshoot)

Custom Doll Project: Mermaid

1. [For fun] Have you ever stalked a fictional character?
"Stalked," meaning watched lot of episodes of a show's a season to get the episode they are in?
Or staring at photos of them? I admit to doing both of these with a lot of fictional characters...

But how does one stalk a fictional character exactly? Do you stalk a fictional character by reading books about them? Or watching their movies or TV shows? If so, are we stalking characters all the time?

I have so many questions about this!

2. Dream job?

I really want to open my own doll company one day and make dolls of my characters and characters from literature. And my doll company may have a mixture of 18 inch and Barbie doll sized dolls, though I'm not entirely sure how exactly they will look.

3. Favorite dessert?

4. Stop-motion or iMovie?

5. Do you like antiheroes?
Yes! I also really like morally gray characters.

My questions:

1. Who is your favorite American Girl doll, and why?
2. Do you like any other 18 inch dolls that aren't made by AG?
3. What retired dolls do you think AG should bring back, and why?
4. If you were to create an AG doll (or any other type of doll), what would your doll's story be? And what would your doll be like?
5. If you could own any of the clothes that your dolls have in your size, which one would you like to have, and why?

What's your favorite desert? And have you ever made stop motions with your dolls?
